Something shifted in the GCC tech market this month, and if you’ve been job hunting in tech, it’s worth paying attention.
Earlier this year, regional uncertainty put a lot of tech hiring on ice. Budgets got approved, then quietly shelved. Interviews stalled halfway through the process. Good candidates got left waiting on a “we’ll circle back” that never came. None of that is unusual when a market gets shaky, but what’s happening right now is.
In real conversations with candidates and clients across the region this month, the freeze is thawing fast. Hiring managers are back from summer, budgets parked in Q2 are being revisited, and candidates who went quiet aren’t gone, they simply stopped actively looking. GCC tech talent is back on the market, and it’s re-entering all at once.
That’s created one of the clearest hiring trends 2026 has produced so far, and it’s making tech hiring GCC-wide look very different to how it did back in March. If you’re hiring, the person you lost in spring might be available again. If you’re job hunting, there’s more competition, but genuinely more open roles than there have been all year.
This isn’t just anecdotal. According to Khaleej Times, around 80% of UAE businesses expect to maintain or increase hiring through the second half of 2026, though the hardest roles to fill remain AI, machine learning and cloud specialists, exactly where the shortage runs deepest.
Not every one of the tech jobs UAE and Saudi employers are posting is moving at the same speed. Based on what we’re placing across Dubai and Riyadh this month:
If your search feels slow, it might genuinely be the role you’re targeting, not you.
Saudi Arabia is riding the same wave. Vision 2030’s giga-projects keep pulling AI, cybersecurity and digital transformation talent into a shrinking pool, and salaries for these skills keep climbing as a result. The World Economic Forum’s recent research on AI talent across the Middle East makes a similar point: the region’s AI ambitions are moving fast, but human skills, not infrastructure alone, will decide who actually captures the value.
Here are a few practical job hunting tips for this exact window:
We think this is genuinely the best time to job hunt in tech that the region has offered all year, and the GCC tech job market 2026 outlook only strengthens that case as government-backed projects keep scaling. Whatever side of the table you’re on, September is the month to move.
