19%. That’s how many GCC organisations have already taken agentic AI out of the pilot phase and into full-scale use, according to IDC research on the rise of agentic AI in the GCC. And they won’t be alone for long. The same study found 74% of Gulf organisations have plans to adopt it.

If you work in tech, that’s worth paying attention to. Every company making the leap needs people to build it, secure it and run it. Right now, there aren’t nearly enough of them.

What Is Agentic AI, and Why Does It Change Tech Hiring?

Quick refresher. Traditional AI tools answer questions. Agentic AI takes action. These systems plan, make decisions and complete tasks across multiple platforms with very little human input.

That changes who companies need to hire. You’re not just plugging in a chatbot anymore. You’re building autonomous systems that touch sensitive data, core infrastructure and real customers.

The Investment Is Already Here

This isn’t a trend on a slide deck. AI infrastructure spending across the region has hit $8.4 billion, according to Arabian Business, as organisations move from experimenting to full deployment.

A McKinsey survey also found that 60% of organisations are already using AI agents in some form, with nearly all of them hiring AI talent in the past year. The catch? More than two-thirds still haven’t moved beyond pilots. That gap between ambition and delivery is, more often than not, a talent gap.

The Roles Moving Fastest Right Now

Based on what we’re placing across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh right now, these are the most in-demand tech jobs in the GCC, and how fast they’re filling:

  • AI engineering, especially agentic AI: AI engineers, solutions architects and AI leaders, filling in as little as one to four weeks.
  • Cybersecurity and compliance: two to four weeks. Autonomous systems create new risks, and security vulnerabilities top the list of concerns for GCC organisations adopting agentic AI.
  • Software engineering, infrastructure, cloud and product: four to eight weeks. Someone has to build the foundations agentic AI runs on.

If you’re chasing AI engineer jobs in Dubai or cybersecurity jobs in Saudi Arabia, you’re in a stronger position than you might think.

Why AI Talent Is So Hard to Find

IDC also found that 40% of GCC IT teams lack in-house expertise in agent design. When supply is that thin, pay follows. We’ve seen the same pattern with tech talent on our end, where specialist AI and cybersecurity skills command a serious premium.

For employers, the takeaway is simple. If you’re waiting for the perfect agentic AI hire to find you, someone else will get to them first.

What Should You Do Next?

If you’re a candidate who’s got hands-on experience with LLMs, automation, cloud or security, make sure it’s highlighted on your CV and LinkedIn. It should be impossible to miss. Right now, agentic AI jobs in the UAE and KSA are opening faster than they’re being filled.

And if you’re a hiring manager, tighten your interview process and be prepared to move quickly on strong profiles. The best tech talent isn’t on the market for long, especially as GCC hiring ramps up into Q4. If you need agentic AI, cybersecurity or cloud talent right now, get in touch at [email protected].

Agentic AI in the GCC is already reshaping how the region works. The real question is whether you’ve got the people to make it work for you.
